Privacy & cookies

The short version

The calculator itself sets no cookies and needs no account. It runs entirely in your browser. You don't tell us your address, your tariff number or anything that identifies you — you pick a region from a dropdown, and that's it.

The only cookie-like thing we set by default is a record of your choice on the banner below, so we don't ask again on every page. If you accept advertising, Google then sets its own cookies. If you reject, it doesn't.

What we store, and why

Storage used on this site
Your consent choice
browser localStorage, key uk_consent_v1, kept 6 months
Strictly necessary — no consent needed
Cloudflare security
bot and abuse protection on our hosting
Strictly necessary — no consent needed
Google AdSense
ad delivery, frequency capping, and personalisation
Only if you press Accept

We do not run Google Analytics, a Facebook pixel, session recording, heatmaps, or any other tracking. If that changes, this page changes first.

Advertising

This site carries ads through Google AdSense, which is how it pays for itself. Nothing on CryptoGrid is a paid placement or an affiliate recommendation — we don't take referrals from exchanges, hardware sellers or energy suppliers, and the calculator's answer is the same whoever it disappoints.

If you accept cookies, Google may use them to show you ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites. You can turn personalised advertising off at any time in Google's My Ad Center, independently of anything you choose here. If you reject, you'll still see ads, but non-personalised ones.

Changing your mind

Use the cookie settings link — here or in the footer of any page — to bring the banner back and change your choice. Clearing your browser storage for this site has the same effect. Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting, by design and by law.

Third parties we touch

The calculator fetches live data directly from your browser to these services, which means they will see your IP address as any website visit would. None of them are told who you are or what you're calculating:

Your rights

Because we hold no account data, there is usually nothing for us to look up, correct or delete — your consent choice lives in your browser, not on our servers, and you can clear it yourself. If you believe we hold personal data about you, write to us and we'll deal with it within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd rather you came to us first.

The embeddable widget

If you've reached the widget on someone else's website, the same applies: it sets no cookies and carries no ads. It fetches the same public data from your browser. The site hosting it is responsible for its own cookies, not us.
